United want Ibrahimovic to stay on as coach – reports

Manchester United will offer Zlatan Ibrahimovic a coaching role at the club once he retires, according to reports.

The Swede only moved to Old Trafford in the summer on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain but he has hit the ground running __with 11 goals in 16 Premier League appearances to date.

Not only have his performances on the pitch impressed the United hierarchy but also his ability to pass on knowledge and experience to younger players such as Marcus Rashford.

The Daily Star claims that the Red Devils want him to help youngsters emerge into the first team ranks by joining Jose Mourinho’s backroom staff.

“Zlatan has one eye on the future and is keen to become a manager in his own right,” said a club source.

“United recognise this and will be willing to help him. He is such a positive influence on those around him that a coaching role would suit all parties.”

However, the 35-year-old recently suggested he could play on until he was 50, meaning any coaching role may have to wait.
