Mourinho issues injury update on ‘special guy’ Bailly

Jose Mourinho has confirmed that Eric Bailly injured his left knee during Manchester United’s 2-1 victory over Crystal Palace on Wednesday.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored two minutes from time to make it back-to-back Premier League wins for the Red Devils.

However, there was some bad news as centre-back Bailly – who was starting his first match since returning from an injury to his right knee – was forced to leave the pitch in the 52nd-minute __with pain in his other knee.

There had been fears that it could be a recurrence of the same issue but Mourinho revealed it was the other leg.

“It is not the same knee, it is the other one, so it is not previous injury,” Mourinho said.

“He has a problem, we don’t know the dimension. He showed character to try and try until he reached the limit.

“He had an injury in the right knee and he recovered fantastically well. Now it is the left knee. I don’t know really what he has, but let us see and wait. He could resist for so long.

“I would say for about 75 minutes he could resist. He is a special guy and his pain level is really high.”
