Walter Zenga has been sacked as head coach of Wolverhampton Wanderers, the Championship club __have confirmed.
The former Italy goalkeeper has lasted just three months - 87 days - in charge at the Molineux Stadium, having overseen just four wins from 14 league matches.
The 56-year-old replaced Kenny Jackett as boss on 30 July, shortly after Chinese conglomerate Fosun completed their takeover of the club.
The Wolves players reportedly put their full support behind their manager following Saturday’s 1-0 defeat to Leeds United.
But a run of four defeats in five games has seen the Wanderers board wield the axe.
A club statement read: "Wolves __have announced that Walter Zenga’s contract has been terminated with immediate effect.
"Stefano Cusin, Assistant Head Coach has also left the Club.
"Wolves will be conducting a thorough process to recruit a new Head Coach and won’t be revealing any timescales associated with this important task.
"Rob Edwards, First Team Coach, has been placed in interim charge of the first team, supported by Under 23s Coach, Scott Sellars.
"The Club would like to extend their thanks and best wishes to Walter and Stefano for their contribution to Wolves during the season so far."
Zenga leaves Wolves with the club 18th in the Championship table, just four points above the relegation zone, and they travel to face Blackburn on Saturday.
