Matteo Darmian is closing in on a return to Italy, according to reports in his homeland.
The Manchester United defender, who signed for the Red Devils in July 2015, is out of favour under Jose Mourinho and was linked with an exit from Old Trafford over the summer.
However, no deal could be completed to leave the club, and Darmian remained an outcast member of the playing squad.
He has played only one game this term, the Europa League loss to Feyenoord, and a deal to return to his homeland is reportedly all-but complete.
Inter Milan __have been tracking Darmian for a number of months, and Italian outlets Tuttosport and La Gazzetta dello Sport are claiming the deal is almost finalised.
The transfer, which will formally take place in January 2017, is expected to be a paid loan, with Inter having the option to buy Darmain outright at the end of the current season.
