Dean Saunders has told talkSPORT it would take ‘an absolute fortune’ to sign Tottenham and England star Dele Alli, who he believes could become ‘the most wanted midfield player in world’.

Alli has become one of the country’s most exciting players since joining Spurs from MK Dons for just £5million in 2015.

Playing in only his second season at White Hart Lane, Alli has not only become one of Tottenham’s best players but also a 15-capped England international.

The 20-year-old penned a new six-year contract with the club in September, but Spurs __have a history of allowing their biggest names to leave for the right price.

And Saunders believes all of the world’s top clubs will come calling for Alli if he continues his meteoric rise.

“Dele Alli is improving week-in week-out and is going to be worth an absolute fortune,” the former Liverpool and Aston Villa striker told talkSPORT host Jim White.

“If he keeps going the way he is going, he’s going to be the most wanted midfield player in the world.

“When you say in the world, you’re including players like Lionel Messi and the rest of them, but Alli is the one they’ll want to buy - so what value do you put on him then?”
