Arsenal and Chelsea receive boost in bid to land Wolfsburg defender Ricardo Rodriguez

Arsenal and Chelsea's hopes of signing Ricardo Rodriguez __have been boosted by the news Inter Milan are unwilling to pay his release-clause.

The defender is ready to leave Wolfsburg this summer and he has reportedly already agreed personal terms with Inter.

That looked as though it had scuppered Arsenal and Chelsea's plans of signing the Switzerland international at the end of the season after scouting him over the past year.

However, according to Calciomercato, the Premier League pair __have been given fresh hope as Inter won't pay Rodriguez's release-clause.

The 24-year-old has a release-clause of £18.5m, which expires on July 1 every year, but Inter cannot match that.

Instead the Italian club are offering £12.7m plus bonuses for Rodriguez, which could allow Arsenal and Chelsea to swoop in with an improved bid.
