Klopp outlines Liverpool’s new transfer policy

Jurgen Klopp has outlined Liverpool’s transfer policy after the promotion of Michael Edwards to sporting director.

Edwards has been moved from his role as technical director to sporting director, where he will work alongside Klopp on a daily basis.

The German praised the appointment of the popular Edwards on Friday.

He will lead future transfer negotiations as part of the role, __with owners Fenway Sports Group having been impressed __with his previous work.

But Klopp has insisted he will have final say on any transfers.

“From my point of view it’s a very natural decision,” he said. “When you have the right person in the club then you have to use this person in the right way. That’s what we did since I’m here.

“Transfers are going always the same way. Whoever brings the player, if it’s me or my assistant, then we have a lot of things to watch, to talk about and in the end I have the final say. That’s the most important thing for you to know.

“If something is wrong with transfers it’s my responsibility.

“I say we have to go for this player. Why should I do the talking with agents? We create a structure for the future of Liverpool.

“We try to create a situation where everything around us is perfect so if the manager changes then the club still has a good base.”
