Queens Park Rangers 2–1 Norwich City
Ian Holloway enjoyed a winning return to Loftus Road as QPR claimed a 2-0 win over Norwich. Tjaronn Chery missed from the spot after just two minutes, Martin Olsson conceding a penalty and being sent off in the process, but the hosts went ahead anyway – Conor Washington scoring after 21 minutes. Sebastian Polter doubled the lead six minutes later, and although Steve Naismith pulled one back for the visitors with 12 minutes remaining, QPR held on to claim all three points.
Cardiff City 3–2 Huddersfield Town
A quickfire double from Sean Morrison and Junior Hoilet put Cardiff in control before the 20 minute mark, and although Tommy Smith pulled one back for Huddersfield just before the half hour mark, Rickie Lambert made it 3-1 moments later. Philip Billing scored a wonderful strike to reduce the deficit to one goal with 20 minutes left, but the Terriers failed to pull level, suffering their fourth loss in the last six games.
Reading 3–0 Burton Albion
Dominic Samuel handed Reading the lead midway through the first half, with a later goal from Danny Williams, and a John Brayford own goal, securing all three points which moved Jaap Stam’s men to third place in the Championship table.
Derby County 3–0 Rotherham United
Tom Ince and Darren Bent netted inside 20 minutes to hand Steve McLaren’s men a commanding early lead, with Ince extending the scoreline midway through the second period to claim a simple three points for the Rams. Ince missed out on the chance to net a hat-trick, seeing his penalty saved after being fouled in the area.
Fulham 1–1 Sheffield Wednesday
Fernando Forestieri’s 10th minute strike appeared to be leading Sheffield Wednesday to victory, but Scott Malone equalised for Fulham in injury time to ensure the spoils were shared at Craven Cottage, with both sides currently just outside the playoff places on 25 points.
Blackburn Rovers 3–2 Brentford
Scott Hogan netted in the first minute to hand the visitors the lead, but Danny Graham equalised after 15 minutes to tie the game. The forward put Rovers in front from the penalty spot five minutes later, but Hogan added his second to pull the game level again after half an hour. Blackburn went ahead again before half-time, Harlee Dean with an own goal, and that was enough for the hosts to claim all three points – although they remain in the relegation zone.
Birmingham City 1–0 Bristol City
Che Adams’ 81st minute goal secured three points for Birmingham City against Bristol City at St Andrews, despite Jonathan Spector’s late red card putting their lead under pressure. The victory in what was a tight match moved the Blues up to fifth place.
Preston North End 0–0 Wolverhampton Wanderers
Preston’s impressive season continued with a 0-0 draw at home to Wolves, which kept them in the top half of the table. The hosts dominated play, but only managed one shot on target, and will rue the two points dropped.
Barnsley 0–0 Wigan Athletic
Wigan lost goalkeeper Adam Bogdan after an hour because of injury, but the Latics managed to hold on to claim a draw at Barnsley. The hosts had the better of the game, but failed to score, and the point for Wigan ensures they remain within touching distance of leaving the relegation places.
