West Ham's pursuit of Juventus striker Mario Mandzukic has been give a boost after talks between the striker and Besiktas stalled.
The Croatia international was expected to put pen-to-paper on a deal to join the Turkish giants in the summer, but there are now suggestions that the club cannot match Mandzukic's demands.
According to reports in Turkey, a £7million fee had been agreed but the move has now been thrown into doubt, given Besiktas' unwillingness to adhere to the striker's wage demands.
Besiktas are expected to continue negotiations but this has now opened the door for West Ham, who are expected to recruit heavily during the summer.
The Hammers are in desperate need of a regular goalscorer and had identified Mandzukic as the ideal target.
Slaven Bilic may further his interest now that his proposed move to Besiktas has hit the buffers.
