Pep Guardiola says Manchester City 'were much, much better than Chelsea' in Premier League defeat

Pep Guardiola says Manchester City

Pep Guardiola conceded Manchester City's title challenge is over and they are now in a battle to finish in the top four in the Premier League.

Guardiola's team are now winless in four league games after their 2-1 loss to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. Eden Hazard's double either side of Sergio Aguero's first-half strike was enough for Antonio Conte's men to maintain their seven-point lead at the top of the table.

It leaves the Citizens just four points ahead of fifth-placed Arsenal, who __have a game in hand.

"The Premier League is gone and of course it will now be a battle to qualify for the Champions League," the City manager told BT Sport.

"We created chances to win.

"I'm a lucky man, to be manager of this club. Hopefully they keep in charge with me and I would like next season to move the team a step forward.

"I'm happy with the way we played here at Stamford Bridge with such personality."

The Spaniard later told talkSPORT how his side were the better side in Wednesday's clash and how they deserved more.

"The manager of Chelsea will say they deserve, I say the opposite. I am so proud to manage these guys for the way we played.

"I am so happy [with how we played], it is not easy to come here with the personality and rhythm we did. We were much, much better than Chelsea, by far."
