Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino admits he is fearing the worst over Jan Vertonghen.
The centre-back was forced out of the 4-0 victory over West Brom on Saturday lunchtime after rolling his left ankle and appeared in some pain as he left the field.
Vertonghen damaged ankle ligaments in the summer while playing for Belgium at Euro 2016, and Pochettino believes he may __have suffered a similar injury.
“It looks very bad,” Pochettino said.
“We feel very disappointed, it is a situation you never want to happen.
"It looks very bad but we need to wait a little bit, tomorrow or Monday we will be able to assess it better. His ankle is badly [swollen]."
While Pochettino was disappointed by Vertonghen's injury, he was delighted with his team's display against West Brom. Read more from him here.
