Port Vale are waiting to discover the extent of the toe injury sustained by Louis Dodds at the weekend.
Louis Dodds: Has a toe problem
Dodds, 28, hobbled into Vale Park on Monday morning assisted by crutches after suffering a suspected broken toe during the 1-0 home defeat to local rivals Crewe.
The versatile forward is already a doubt for the league fixture at Barnsley on Saturday but scans will determine whether he is set for an extended spell on the sidelines.
"We are still waiting to get the full report," Vale boss Rob Page told The Sentinel. "He's had a bit of a kick on his big toe so it is a precaution at the minute. He is hobbling around on crutches but fingers crossed we will have some good news in the next 48 hours.
"He has been on form and playing well with Ben Williamson so of course it would be a blow if we have an injury to him but we have enough in the squad to back it up and we move on, that's all we can do."
