Pitch inspection at Turf Moor

Referee Phil Dowd will make a “cursory” pitch inspection at Turf Moor ahead of Burnley’s Premier League clash against Crystal Palace at 3pm.

Dowd will inspect conditions at midday following snow and plummeting temperatures sweeping across the UK on Friday night.

In a statement issued on the club’s website, Burnley have insisted the pitch is “playable” as of 9.30am, but more snow is forecast later on Saturday.

The statement read: “Turf Moor remains playable for today’s Premier League game against Crystal Palace (at 9.30am today).

“Main routes into Burnley appear clear and the club has cleared all key areas of snow and gritted car parks and pavements.

“The referee will make a cursory inspection of the playing surface around midday.

“However, heavy snow is forecast later in the day and we will continue to monitor this and keep supporters informed of any potential changes to the current situation, through the website and social media.

“We strongly advise supporters to allow extra time for their journeys to Turf Moor and arrive in plenty of time ahead of kick off.”

Burnley are fourth-bottom of the division by a point following a crucial win over fellow strugglers QPR last weekend, while Crystal Palace are two places above but level on 20 points after beating Tottenham.
