Doncaster boss Paul Dickov claimed he was always confident his side would make the breakthrough in their win over Barnsley.
Paul Dickov: Had confidence in his players
But despite dominating they had to wait until the 84th minute before clinching a 1-0 win with a wonder goal from substitute Harry Forrester.
Dickov said: "We missed a fair few opportunities and left it late, but I always thought we would get the goal our play deserved.
"I've got a lot of belief in my players to keep going to the end and they justified that faith.
"I'm pleased with the character of the team and delighted with the result because that's five unbeaten in the league now and it keeps the momentum going.
"We always preach that if you can't win it's important not to lose, but we've drawn too many games we should have won so it was vital to get a victory.
"It took a special goal to settle the game because we had missed far easier chances to score.
"But Harry Forrester is well capable of scoring special goals because he's a special player."
Doncaster missed a series of opportunities after dominating possession and putting their local rivals under plenty of pressure until Forrester ended the stalemate six minutes from time.
Forrester robbed teenage full-back Mason Holgate of possession and fired home from a difficult angle in spectacular style.
It was a match to forget for Holgate, who was later sent off for a bad tackle.
Barnsley boss Danny Wilson said the club would not appeal against the dismissal.
But Wilson added: "It's a bit disappointing coming at that stage in the game because it wasn't a malicious challenge
"Mason has been a bit naive. He left the ground when he made the tackle and in this day and age you can't do that.
"I'm disappointed with the outcome because a lot of their attacks came from us being a bit lose in possession and that was the story of the game.
"The finish was fantastic, but we lost possession of the ball for them to score.
"I thought we were a threat at times, but our final ball let us down and our attacking prowess never came in to the equation because of that.
"What is disappointing is that I thought we had a stonewall penalty early the game which wasn't given and we were dumb-founded by the decision."
